613#Ai no Kotoba ~ [Book Review] The Fault in Our Stars

Another book has make me closer to crying. Almost.

Rating : 4.2/5

Despite the tumor-shrinking medical miracle that has bought her a few years, Hazel has never been anything but terminal, her final chapter inscribed upon diagnosis. But when a gorgeous plot twist named Augustus Waters suddenly appears at Cancer Kid Support Group, Hazel's story is about to be completely rewritten.

It's really depressing when you think you're dying. But not for Hazel. I adore her strength. Well, she doesn't seem to think like that tho. Hazel knows she's dying but she doesn't make a fuss over it. She thinks she's a grenade. A grenade which would wound her loved ones once she die. Can't blame her . We ourselves do not want to wound our loved ones, right?

I love Isaac, the character of his. He's such a good supporting character for both Hazel and Gus. I'm quite sorry for him since the Monica thing but hey, you're NEC now Isaac. Don't let other people step on you again. Live your long life.

For Gus, you're such a guy. If I was Hazel, I really really really love to have you to be my Cancer Companion. You spend your one Wish from the Genies for Hazel and in the end, you yourself get to have sweet moment with her. Actually, you deserve better since you don't let the killing things to have power to kill you.

Despite all the positive vibes I got from the book, unfortunately I didn't enjoy it much. I just simply reading it, thought a few important thoughts and sympathised with the characters. Maybe I'm not suited with John Green's writing.

Till then.
Wassalam.

612#Ai no Kotoba ~ Juadah Berbuka Ala Student :p

Selamat berbuka!

Kalau dah namanya student, memang kebanyakannya akan membeli makanan kat bazaar atau kedai-kedai makan. Plus kalau duduk kat hostel. Like me :p

So far Hana beli kat bazaar Ramadhan kat TKS ni.

Sabar, sabar.

Huhu :p

Till then.
Wassalam.

Amin :)

611#Ai no Kotoba ~ Goodreads, Apakah?

Salam Ramadhan!

:)

Kali ni Hana nak bercerita pasal Goodreads. Ada sesiapa pernah dengar pasal Goodreads? Biasanya sesiapa yang baru nak kenal dengan Goodreads ni akan fikir Goodreads ni salah satu tempat untuk baca e-books which is wrong. Well, I thought so too.

Actually Goodreads is a social cataloging site. The website allows individuals to freely search Goodreads' extensive user-populated database of books, annotations, and reviews. Users can sign up and register books to generate library catalogs and reading lists. They can also create their own groups of book suggestions and discussions. (source from Wiki :p )

I signed up too!

Home interface for Goodreads is actually like this.

Kat home boleh tengok your Goodreads friends' recent updates. Ada juga suggestion for another books based on the books you have been reading and else.

Tadaaa!

Haha :p This is my Goodreads profile. My link is goodreads.com/harunohana19. You can add me there. LOL. Dekat profile akan ada Featured Shelf, your Friends, your reading progress, the books reviews etc.

This is Featured Shelf. As for me, I choose my 2014-Reading as my Featured Shelf.

Kat bawah Featured Shelf and Bookshelves tu ada your profile's timeline, as if your reading progress lah. Setiap buku yang dah dibaca (Read), korang boleh rate buku tu berapa bintang and boleh tulis book review sekali kalau rajin. Paling paling cikai pun users rate aje buku tu berapa bintang.

Untuk buku How to Fall in Love, Hana marked sebagai Want to Read.

Till then.
Wassalam.

610#Ai no Kotoba ~ [Book Review] The Girl You Left Behind

[edited: Jan 3, 2015]

Another book from Jojo Moyes ;)

Rating : 4.6/5

In 1916, French artist Edouard Lefevre leaves his wife Sophie to fight at the Front. When her town falls into German hands, his portrait of Sophie stirs the heart of the local Kommandant and causes her to risk everything - her family, reputation and life - in the hope of seeing her true love one last time.

Nearly a century later and Sophie's portrait is given to Liv by her young husband shortly before his sudden death. Its beauty speaks of their short life together, but when the painting's dark and passion-torn history is revealed, Liv discovers that the first spark of love she has felt since she lost him is threatened...

In The Girl You Left Behind two young women, separated by a century, are united in their determination to fight for the thing they love most - whatever the cost.

This is a story of two women set in two different eras. Sophie - the one who is waiting for her husband in 1916. Liv - the one who is still grieving after losing her husband.

Sophie who stays in France is waiting for her husband's return from the war. It has been months since she last heard of Edouard. And a century later, there's Liv who is still cannot let her husband go even though it has been four years after David's passing.

Both of them has two completely different stories but their strength and passion to fight for what they love the most are the same. Even though the world is laughing at them, they are still fighting, not wanting to let the world takes away their beloved. I adore both Sophie and Liv.

This book is interesting in its own way but it's quite draggy where the parts of Liv's battle with TARP come. Liv doesn't want the portrait of Sophie - the memorable gift from her late husband - been taking away from her. She wants to keep remembering her husband and letting the portrait go is not the right decision, or so Liv thoughts.

The mystery behind the portrait is quite amusing and satisfied me.

Would Sophie meet Edourd again? What would happen to Liv? Could she properly let David go and find new love?

Between Me Before You and The Girl You Left Behind, I choose Me Before You. It's a tear-jerking read but you would be uplifted. The uplifting spirits are still here with The Girl You Left Behind though.

Till then.
Wassalam.
