582#Ai no Kotoba ~ Weekenders' Reach : Cook & Feed @ Rumah Anak Yatim Nasuha
Ini Nadia. Budak yang paling pendiam sekali sepanjang aktiviti ni. Kecik aje orangnya. Hana ingatkan dia baru aje masuk rumah anak-anak yatim tu sebab tengok dia senyap aje, jarang senyum dan gelak rupanya dia dah lama masuk. Ada kakak yang kata Naufal tu abang dia. Naufal salah seorang penghuni rumah anak-anak yatim ni :)
Siap bawa buku resipi pancake! Hee :D
Menarik tak? Ada banyakkkkk sangat toppings yang Kenders sediakan :) Ada marshmallows, Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, whipping cream, sliced bananas, chocolate chips, strawberry jam etc!
Pancake kasih sayang :)
(Hadis riwayat Ahmad)
Ini pancake Hana! Letak semua hampir toppings :p Tamak oh tamak. Hahaha :p

581#Ai no Kotoba ~ [Book Review] Welcome to Rosie Hopkins' Sweetshop of Dreams
Rating : 4.5/5
Were you a sherbet lemon or chocolate lime fan? Penny chews or hard boiled sweeties (you do get more for your money that way)? The jangle of your pocket money . . . the rustle of the pink and green striped paper bag . . .
Rosie Hopkins thinks leaving her busy London life, and her boyfriend Gerard, to sort out her elderly Aunt Lilian's sweetshop in a small country village is going to be dull. Boy, is she wrong. Lilian Hopkins has spent her life running Lipton's sweetshop, through wartime and family feuds. As she struggles with the idea that it might finally be time to settle up, she also wrestles with the secret history hidden behind the jars of beautifully coloured sweets. Welcome to Rosie Hopkins' Sweetshop of Dreams - a novel - with recipes."
Comparing to Cupcakes at Carrington's, I found this book is more mouth-watering. The description of every traditional sweets in Lilian's old sweet shop made me craving for some sweets. You can't get enough with the sweetness!
Rosie Hopkins is a nurse in London when one day she is contacted to go to a small country village where her old Aunt Lilian live. Due to her old age, Rosie is asked to sort out her old sweet shop in Lipton. At first, Rosie only wants to quickly sell the place and return to London but the temptation of the sweet shop fails her. She begins to take over the sweet shop while taking care of her old aunt. The sweet shop has been through a lot, it is just a waste to sell it, right?
I love every character in this book, maybe excluding Gerard the boyfriend of Rosie. The village characters are quirky and I grew to love them. Aunt Lilian's grumpiness, Stephen's awful behaviour, Lady Lipton's eccentric ways and every villagers. I could not forget the time when Rosie goes to a farm. Hilarious!
Rosie's character has some flaws but she grows to be better. She knows what she wants to do even though sometimes her decisions aren't the best. Her efforts to bring back the glory of the sweet shop is no joke. She's no pro but she wills to learn.
In the meantime, Rosie learns Aunt Lilian's dark secret.
Till then.

580#Ai no Kotoba ~ My Garden Angel~
Kalau Hana, Hana tak kisah guna wangian apa asalkan baunya best dan lembut. Tak suka pada wangian yang agak keras baunya. Sebelum ni pernah guna Silky Girl True Love, Silky Girl Forget-Me-Not, One Drop Perfume Be Delicious by DKNY dll. Hana paling suka fruity and sweet scent :)
Garden Angel by Pucelle, 50 ml. Hana suka bau Garden Angel ni! Soft but sweet :) Beli dalam harga RM 17 camtu kat Watsons. Kebanyakan wangian macam ni biasanya harga atas RM 25 tapi wangian Pucelle ni bawah RM 20 aje. Murah dan bau wangiannya memang best! Sesuailah untuk yang masih belajar dan kena berjimat cermat gunakan duit :p He he.
Korang suka guna wangian apa? Yang mahal, murah atau tak kisah asalkan bau sedap? :)
Till then.

579#Ai no Kotoba ~ [Book Review] Cupcakes at Carrington's
[edited: Dec 28, 2015]
It has been a while but I still want to review this debut novel of Alexandra Potter ;) This book is not in my previous Big Bad Wolf stock but I bought it from DeBook Room. FYI, Cupcakes at Carrington's is the first book in Carrington's Department Store series. The other ones are Me and Mr. Carrington and Christmas at Carrington's.
Rating : 4.3/5
Georgie Hart loves her job – running the luxury handbag concession at Carrington's Department store in the pretty seaside town of Mulberry-On-Sea, and treating herself (once too often!) to a red velvet cupcake with buttercream icing in Carrington's café.
But Georgie is thrown into disarray when Carrington's is plunged into a recession-busting makeover, cueing the arrival of femme fatale Maxine, who wields the axe in her immaculately-manicured hands.
It spells a recipe for disaster for Georgie and soon she is fighting not only for her job, but also for the attentions of her gorgeous boss, James. And when hot newcomer Tom arrives, who may or may not be the best thing since sliced bread, Georgie must decide where her loyalties really lie…
This mouth-watering story tells the daily life of Georgie who works at Carrington's Department Store. She loves Carrington's due to her memory as a little girl coming to the store with her late mother. Carrington's has her own share of golden days but nothing anymore in recent year. Georgie works harder when Maxine the femme fatale comes with the purpose to bring Carrington's back to her former glory. At the same time, a guy named Tom comes and works at the old department store too.
The strained relationship between Georgie and her father would be revealed sooner or later. When I was reading this book, I was wondering why her father kept a distance with her own daughter. The ending is good and I couldn't get much of sweetness of the cupcakes made by Georgie's best friend ;)
Is Maxine came with one purpose only? Who is Tom? Could Carrington's become a big name again? I was entertained enough with Alexandra Potter's writing. It was a light reading, suitable for readers who wanna switch from heavier reads for a moment.
Till then.

570#Ai no Kotoba ~ [Book Review] Jinx
[edited: Dec 28, 2015]
Have you ever heard of Meg Cabot? Or The Princess Diaries? The films are adapted from Meg Cabot's The Princess Diaries books. I've never read one but I read all The Mediator series. That's where I start my fondness of Meg Cabot ;)
Rating : 3.7/5
Misfortune has followed Jean Honeychurch all her life - which is why everyone calls her Jinx. And now her parents shipped her off to New York to stay with relatives - including her sophisticated cousin, Tory - until trouble she's caused back home dies down.
Tory is far too cool to bother with Jinx - until Jinx's chronic bad luck wreaks havoc in Tory's perfect life. Only then does Jinx discover that beneath Tory's big-city glamour lies a world of hatred and revenge. Now it seems that the jinx that's driven Jean crazy may just be the only thing that can save her.
Jinx tells the story of Jean, infamously known as Jinx among her friends. She causes some troubles at home and being departed to New York, to live with her good Aunt Evelyn and her husband - the only rosy hole in the house is Tory for goodness' sake. I hate her, kinda.
I like most of the story but I find it hard to accept Jean's ways of thinking and behaviour. I think her low self-confidence comes from the way her so-called friends back home treat her as a weirdo. I really want her to establish herself, not letting people making fun of her again.
And, she does change herself. Thank goodness. If not maybe I would put this book under my bed, not wanting to read it again.
Between The Mediator series and the stand-alone Jinx, I love The Mediator more. Both has some kind of magic and fantasy revolve around romance but The Mediator is still the winner ;)
Till then.

568#Ai no Kotoba ~ [Book Review] Girl in the Mirror
This was my first time reading a compilation of short stories by Cecelia Ahern. The book itself doesn't exceed 100 pages, helping me reduced the hours to finish it. There is only two stories in one book.
Rating: 4.4/5
Girl in the Mirror :
Lila knows how lucky she is to have found the man of her dreams. But when a secret from her family's past comes to light on her wedding day, her destiny changes in the most unexpected of ways.
The Memory Maker :
They say you never forget your first love. But what happens when those cherished memories start to fade? Some people would do anything to hold on to the past and, for one heartbroken man, that means finding a way to relive those precious moments.
Cecelia Ahern still implemented her touch of fantasy in both stories. However, if Girl in the Mirror is a bit dark, The Memory Maker has gloomy feeling in it. My personal favourite? I choose The Memory Maker if Cecelia Ahern wanted to make it into a long story.
The darkness behind Girl in the Mirror kept me intrigued when reading it, it starts from the beginning. I was thinking about Lila's grandmother, why she has one eye only? Unfortunately for Lila, the truth came to her on her wedding day. Not a good start of a marriage, eh?
The Memory Maker is quite sad. An inventor invented a machine called The Memory Maker, a machine which could create dreams. The story behind the dreams-creating machine is so sad. What a pitiful soul he is, still clinging to the past. I would love to see if Cecelia Ahern decided to make a full story of The Memory Maker ;)
If you want a quick, doesn't-take-hours-of-reading read, I strongly suggest this book to you. My copy is hardback, the cover is beautiful, no? ;) I don't know if the book came in paperback or not.
Till then.

567#Ai no Kotoba ~ [Book Review] If You Could See Me Now
" You don't need me anymore, Elizabeth. You're going to stop seeing me now, Someone else will need me... I loved you the moment I saw you and I will always love you, Elizabeth..."
Rating: 4.6/5
Elizabeth Egan's life runs on order: Both her home and her emotions are arranged just so, with little room for spontaneity. It's how she counteracts the chaos of her family--an alcoholic mother who left when she was young, an emotionally distant father, and a free-spirited sister, who seems to be following in their mother's footsteps, leaving her own six-yearold son, Luke, in Elizabeth's care. When Ivan, Luke's mysterious new grown-up friend, enters the picture, Elizabeth doesnt know quite what to make of him. With his penchant for adventure and colorful take on things large and small, Ivan opens Elizabeth's eyes to a whole new way of living. But is it for real? Is Ivan for real? If You Could See Me Now is a love story with heart--and just a touch of magic.
This book is mostly about friendship and family bond, also with a touch of romance. Elizabeth Egan's life is so unfortunate. Her mother goes missing for years. Her father who is still couldn't accept her mother's absence even though time has been ticking for so long is always waiting for her return. Her wild younger sister named Saoirse and her son.
Elizabeth is a successful woman in her field of career. But, unfortunately something has happened years ago prior to present timeline which she could not ignore it. She abandoned her opportunities and returned home. In present time, she has to take care of Luke due to Saoirse's habit of going missing. I could understand why Elizabeth being so strict in her life. Her life is quite challenging. In her hometown, she meets Ivan, Luke's adult friend.
The romance starts but... Ivan is not and ordinary guy.
When I read this book, I could feel the tension in Elizabeth's everyday life. She has to take care of everything! From the six-year-old Luke who needs maternal attention, her younger sister's frequent problems which Saoirse's faults actually to her father's sort-of hatred towards her.
I like Ivan! He is so cool and knows how to make Elizabeth happy despite her stern nature. Even though I (have to) understand Ivan's job of making people, especially kids like Luke happy, I could not totally accept the ending. The ending is quite good, but I need happier ending *sigh*
Cecelia Ahern's writings are understandable to me since this is my first English book after years of reading none. I'd love to suggest this book if you want to read something with a bit of fantasy in it. I'm gonna make her books as my priorities in the future!
Till then.
